Harvest 2019!!!

It's looking like a big year for the Grace Hill Vineyard, which means we need your help, and lots of it!

For those unfamiliar with the harvest process, all of the Grace Hill Vineyard grapes are picked by volunteers! We pick on Saturday mornings beginning at 8am throughout August and September, for 2-3 hours each Saturday.

Once the picking is done, the harvest crew is led on a tour of the winery to see the grape crushing and pressing in action, and then we all sit down for lunch with wine (or super fresh grape juice for the little ones)!

Harvest dates will be:

Saturday, August 17th
Saturday, August 24th
Saturday, August 31st
Saturday, September 7th
Saturday, September 14th
Saturday, September 21st
Saturday, September 28th

Also we want to announce a small change to the harvest sign up process. During the last couple of years the interest level in volunteer harvest has increased, which has led to a frenzied sign up process where people would sign up for friends who had only tentatively agreed to participate. When those folks cancelled or no showed, the burden of that extra work went onto our hard working volunteers, something that was neither good for the folks picking into the midday sun nor for us as a winery who are trying to get the grapes in as fast as possible before the heat of the day sets in and starts killing flavors.

The 2019 Harvest Crew will still have the same perks: a fun activity, a delicious barbecue lunch with wine and sangria accompaniment, as well as 20% off any wine purchased in the tasting room on the day of your harvest. This year you will also receive a custom Grace Hill Winery Harvest Crew water bottle to commemorate your helping with the 2019 Harvest!

In order to make this possible, we are going to begin charging $10 per person (children 12 and under are 1 cent since our online store won't allow free items) to harvest grapes, which we hope will cut down on the no-shows and ensure an orderly and timely harvest. We are a little sad to be doing this, but the grapes don't pick themselves and we feel that a fun morning of activity, a delicious lunch with wine, tasting room discounts, and a water bottle is well worth $10.

To reserve your spot for harvest, choose the date you would like to harvest and register your number of people at our online store.

Thanks in advance for all your help!

Sip For Cystic Fibrosis

What better way to top off the weekend than enjoying wine to support a great cause!  Come join us at the winery for a fun afternoon of wine, music, smoked BBQ and even a little bingo!  Prize drawings will be held throughout the afternoon.  Grace Hill will be donating 20% of their proceeds from wine sales to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.  There will be other fun ways to support finding a cure for cystic fibrosis so come join us for a beautiful afternoon at the winery.

We will kick off the event at 2 pm with bingo card distribution and a few rounds of bingo with great prizes before lunch is served around 3 pm.  For lunch, enjoy some fabulous mouth-watering smoked BBQ which will be cooked on site!  For $15, your meal will include cheesy potatoes, baked beans plus your choice of smoked BBQ chicken, pork loin or combination chicken and pork.  You don’t want to miss out on this amazing food so purchase your tickets early!

Cystic fibrosis is a devastating genetic disease that affects the lungs and digestive system. More than ten million Americans are symptomless carriers of the defective CF gene and 30,000 people in the US battle the effects of CF daily. Advances continue to be made in finding a cure, but your help is needed now -- more than ever -- to help keep up the momentum of this life-saving research. Sixty years ago, children with CF usually did not live long enough to attend elementary school. Today, because of Foundation-supported research and care, the median survival age of people with CF is about 40. This is remarkable progress, but not good enough. We continue to lose precious lives to CF every day.
