The good times kept on rolling at Grace Hill Winery during Build Your Own Wine Day. This year we had 50 guests participate, all of whom got to blend, cork, capsule, and label their very own bottle of wine! Thanks to everyone who came out, check out the pics!
The Spring Release Party was a big success, with the release of four new wines and the debut of the Grace Hill Winery Event Center. All the wines were very well received and the event center proved itself a great place to throw a party. Come out to Grace Hill to check it out along with our newly released Chloe's Cuvee, Priarie Pink, Dodging Tornados Dry, and Peckerhead Red!
The Event Center is nearing completion! The wall's are painted, the ceiling should be done this week, and the frame for the observation deck above the patio is in and looking good! It's just about time for a party...
We had a great turnout for the Fall Release Party! Thanks to everyone who came out. If you couldn't make it out last night, we now have four new wines to try, so come out and see us at your favorite local winery! To view the recipes for all the delicious food from the party, click here.
September 11th seemed a fitting day to pick our Norton, as Norton is the basically the only native American grape that wine is made from. The plants were a little abused from all the heat this summer, but the grapes turned out really good! Only one harvest left, the Cab Franc!
On August 28th we had our biggest harvest of the season, bringing in almost two and a half tons of grapes! We picked our Traminette, the last of this year's white grapes, as well as the rest of our Chambourcin. When the picking was finished we had lunch under the tent catered by Blue Collar Barbeque, who came out and cooked it all up on site. Delicious!
We've been so fortunate to have so many great people come to help us out with harvest the last three weeks! Check out these pictures from August 14th and August 21st. On the 14th we picked our Seyval and Chardonel and had a wonderful lunch under the tent. On the 21st we picked the Chambourcin and Noiret, and then had a barrel tasting before lunch!
On Saturday, August 14th, we harvested our Seyval and Chardonel grapes. We picked just under a ton of the sweetest Seyval we've ever grown, as well as 2500 pounds worth of Chardonel which were absolutely perfect! The picking was done by 11:15, after which we settled in for a delicious lunch under the tent. Thanks to everyone who came out and helped!
The grapes have gotten visibly fuller this week! As we gear up for our 2010 harvest in a few weeks, the grapes have never looked better!
Build Your Own Wine Day was a blast! Everyone made themselves their own original blend of barrel aged Chambourcin, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Cabernet Franc, with no two blends the same. A great time was had by all, so look for this fun event to happen again in a few months!
